Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive your own car on an award winning Grand Prix racing circuit? Well now is your chance. Bahrain International Circuit is opening it’s gates to the public on selected days throughout the year.
For a small fee drivers can take their own car and drive on this ultra modern racing circuit. The cars must be in a good, road worthy condition with no leaks or body damage.
Drivers must have a crash helmet and a valid driving license.
The day starts at 8am with signing on followed by scrutineering. The drivers are divided into groups depending on their ability and experience, i.e., novice, intermediate or advanced.
A 20 minute briefing on safety issues is given during which drivers are given guidance on track rules and procedures. This covers things such as what the different colour flags mean, light signals and what to do in the event of mechanical failure. Additional tuition is available at an extra cost.
The track activity starts at 09.00 and runs until 16.00. There is a break for lunch at about 12.00.
Drivers will be lead around the circuit for the first 3 laps to familiarise them with the layout. Depending on numbers, the day will be run either as an open pit lane with drivers free to come and go as they please or as timed sessions. Timed sessions last for about 20 minutes which is the maximum recommended for cars that are not fully race prepared. This will also give the drivers a chance to relax and swap stories with each other!
The cost is BD100 per day or BD75 for half day (1-4pm). Additional drivers BD25 each and passengers BD10 each.
