قامت شركة دلفي بتصنيع ستالايت متحرك يتم تركيبه بالسيارة ويقوم بإحضار نفس القنوات اللي نشوفها ...

NEED EVEN MORE VIDEO OPTIONS in your car? A company called KVH is offering an automotive satellite television system that mounts between the roof rails of your big sport/ute. Delphi goes one better with a satellite TV receiver stuffed nearly flat into the roof. A prototype (the system is still in development) we tested in a Cadillac Escalade added an inch to the headliner of the big SUV.
Delphi’s satellite receiver is like a big flat rectangle under a Plexiglas sheet. The rectangle spins like a record to keep an eye directly on the geo-synchronously orbiting satellite over the equator. A proprietary system allows the receiver to adjust azimuth without having to tilt. Our driver did donuts to demonstrate how well the receiver kept the signal. The problem is, if the line of sight is ever interrupted by trees or buildings or great blue herons, you lose the signal.
We cruised Malibu watching Nickelodeon cartoons from the passenger seat. We also watched some golf. While our drive merely kept us entertained, there is more to automotive satellite TV than that.
“Right now it’s mostly TV,” said Delphi’s Ross Olney, noting the system we watched had access to 400 channels. “But we think the real bang for the buck is the Internet.”
The two-way capability of the Internet will open up a wide range of uses for a satellite receiver in your car, from traffic updates to vehicle service bulletins.
Delphi will have a satellite TV system for your car within a few years, perhaps first as an aftermarket kit and then as a factory option. The plan is to have it in the next model change- over for GM’s big SUVs. If that’s too far off, you can already buy the system from KVH, if you can stand the rooftop rider.
