With Ford all by its lonesome in the pony-car market with the excellent Mustang, Dodge thinks it’s high time to return to the segment. And from what we’ve seen of the all-new Dodge Challenger concept car featured in our exclusive photo shoot ― see Ampersand in the February 2006 issue for a full report ― it looks like the Mopar mavens have a future hit on their hands. “If the stars align and the green light is given, the earliest you could expect to see the Challenger giving the Mustang a run for its money would be the 2008 model year. Let’s hope those celestial bodies align…and quickly,” says Detroit Editor Matt DeLorenzo. Well said.
