DETROIT, Jan. 6--Kia has no plans now to produce and market this newest concept, the KCV III. But company officials tell the PM.Zone they hold open the possibility that the 2-seat sporty convertible could make its debut as a production car at some future date. Powered by a 145-hp 2.0-liter engine, the KCV III promises spirited if not spleen-splattering performance.
A fully automatic hardtop roof comprises three panels of solar-control glass. A rollbar provides added safety whether the roadster's top is up or down. Other safety systems include stability control and braking assist during emergency stops.
While no target price has been announced, the fact that the design is intended to attract younger buyers makes it a safe bet that the KCV III would sell in the sub-$20,000 range
